About Me

Hi, I’m Clare! I’m a pediatric sleep consultant in the Ponte Vedra and surrounding northeast Florida area. I got into this career because I NEEDED SLEEP!

My first born was not a good sleeper in any way shape or form. Of course, this was my first child, and to a degree I thought this was somewhat normal, and something you just dealt with. He was, and still is, an active little boy, always getting into everything. I remember being pregnant with him and having a frank conversation with one of my best friends, basically asking: “How am I going to do this whole motherhood thing? How am I going to deal with the lack of sleep? Like, you don’t get it, I’m a person who needs their sleep!” While this may sound trivial, at the time it was a real concern of mine.

My husband and I differed greatly on what kind of methods to help him. At the time, there only seemed to be two methods around sleep: Cry It Out, or attachment parenting, where you co-sleep and adhere to every need of the child. While the latter was not working, I could not wrap my mind around leaving my child in a room to cry while I just sat there!

Fast-forward five years later, now our daughter was on the way, and we knew we needed to do something different in the sleep department. Sure, she was overall more laid back and easy-going than our son. Even in her first few months, she slept surprisingly well. But as she got older, habits started to creep in, these same habits we had seen with our son. And as most of us can attest to, the passing of time does not make a situation any easier.

Sleep Sense Certified Consultant

Who has the time or energy (especially when sleep deprived!) to go reading the mountains of books and advice out there about children’s sleep? I was the typical: “I’ll Google it” when I ran into a problem. I would try a few suggestions here and there, but when I ran into trouble, I was still lost and needed guidance.

I stumbled across the Sleep Sense program. I also reached out to trusted friends who had used the same approach, as well as the aid of a sleep consultant. While I understood most likely my daughter was going to protest the change, I was not being asked to leave her to cry, to just deal with it. Rather, I felt empowered that now I had the tools and guidance to help her in a way that I felt comfortable with.

The results were not short of, well, amazing! My daughter—who woke up several times a night and would not take naps alone—was now sleeping 11 and 12 hours a night and taking naps in her crib like a champ!

We as parents can feel stuck, and especially moms can have this guilt weighing on our shoulders. We can be made to feel that it’s something we’re doing wrong, or we should just automatically know how to handle every little situation, and in turn feel bad asking for help. I’m passionate about helping people reclaim their much-needed sleep. Let me help you reach your goal so you too can feel Blissfully Rested.
